Late last week the worst keep secret in football finally was let out of the box. Mohammad Salah officially made his swap from Italian giants AS Roma to Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool. With a fee rumored of between £33 and £39 million, Salah's signature should only be the beginning to a busy summer for the Reds.
Salah makes Klopp's attack more than formidable. When fully fit the reds attack was considered the "entertainers" of the league, knocking in a myriad of goals. Their fluidity and work rate should only increase with the addition of Salah. Mo mo as he's affectionately referred to by his fans, is a true right winger with a lethal left foot. His blistering pace paired with Liverpool's player of the year Sadie Mane should term their matches into track meets.

But the securing of Salah's signature should only be the beginning for Liverpool in a crucial summer transfer window. After an overachieving season had the reds finish in a champions league spot for only the second time since 2009, Jurgen Klopp has identified key positions for strengthening. A top class center back to pair with Joel Matip, another central midfielder as well as a true left back are all key needs for a team looking to return to its glory days.
Even after the disastrous Virgil Van Dijk situation which saw Liverpool publicly apologize to Southampton as well as public ally withdraw interest in the player, I still believe he will end up on Merseyside by the time the window slams shut in early September.
Money talks, especially to Southampton, a team that has sold countless players to Liverpool over the past few seasons. A £70 million price tag has been placed on the Dutch center back and while it's incredibly steep, he's the man to lead to Liverpool defense to where they can be title challengers.
Klopp's main midfield target will be much more difficult to pry away from Germany. RB Leipzig's Naby Keita inject a box to box star into the Liverpool midfield. Leipzig, owned by Red Bull, are not strapped for cash and are headed into the champions league for the first time in their history. These factors will make it very difficult for Keita to make the transition to England, but if the player is keen on a move to Liverpool then it becomes a possibility.
Mo Salah's signing was a fantastic one for Liverpool. He adds pace, goals and versatility into an already deadly attack. But more so than just his ability, Salah's signing is a statement of intent by Liverpool, Jurgen Klopp and the ownership group of FSG that this summer Liverpool WILL be willing to shell out the bucks to be able to compete with the big boys to bring the reds back to past glory.
