Wow time flies. We are already past the midway point in the MLB season with the Home Run Derby and the All Star game taking place over the next few days. And that means it's mid season awards time as we look back on an exciting and action packed first half of baseball and as we ramp up for what should be an incredibly compelling end to the season.

NL MVP- Paul Goldschmidt
It's finally time for Goldy to get his recognition. The five time All Star has his finger prints all over the Diamondbacks 53-35 record, good for second in baseball's most competitive division and for the first NL wildcard. Goldschmidt is hitting .313 with a .430 on base, 20 home runs, 67 RBIs and has even added 13 stolen bases to his stat line. Bryce Harper, Charlie Blackmon and the Dodgers' Cody Bellinger are all decent shouts, but Goldy is a beast and right now he should be on track to take home his first NL MVP.

NL CY Young- Max Scherzer
There's not much more to say about Scherzer than what has been said here so I'll keep this one short and sweet. He's earned it. He's a workhorse, he's dominant and he's powered the Nationals to the NL East's best record. There's competition from Clayton Kershaw and even Alex Wood as a surprise candidate, but this one is easy.

NL Rookie of the Year- Cody Bellinger
LA has a new star. Since his call up in late April, Bellinger has been nothing but spectacular for one of the National League's flagship franchises. He's second in the National League with 25 home runs which is stunning coming from the fact he missed almost all of April. Bellinger has also displayed vital versatility to Dave Roberts with his ability to play both in the outfield and at first base. Add in 58 RBIs and a near .350 on base and Bellinger is the clear front runner at the All Star Break.

NL Manager of the Year- Craig Counsell
Counsell has done a fantastic job as the man leading the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers find themselves in first place in the NL Central ahead of the world champion Chicago Cubs. Counsell has done a nice job incorporating top prospect Orlando Arcia at short and moving the struggling Jonathan Villar to second as well as using the bats of Travis Shaw and Eric Thames. The emergence of Corey Kneble at the back end of the bullpen has also been key for the Brewers resurgence in 2017.

AL MVP- George Springer
This one is brutal. Mike Trout, Aaron Judge, Carlos Correa and Jose Altuve are all very worthy candidates as well, but Springer is the man here. Springer has 27 home runs with a .307 average sitting at the top of the American League's best lineup. Heading to his first All Star game on Tuesday night, Springer has provided a real jolt in the Astros lethal lineup with a .993 ops good for 5th in the MLB.

AL Cy Young- Chris Sale
The Red Sox risked a lot in getting the star White Sox ace over the winter when they gave up the top prospect in the MLB in Yoan Moncada, but so far they are reaping the benefits. It's been smooth sailing for Sale as he is the AL's leader in innings pitched with 127 and leads MLB in strikeouts with 178. Sale has given Boston a true ace and has been an absolutely game changer with already over 10 starts with double digit strikeouts.

AL Rookie of the Year- Aaron Judge
The verdict is in on this one, and it's Aaron Judge. The gargantuan slugger in the Bronx has been blowing away the competition with a major league leading 30 home runs and has already broken the Yankees' rookie record for home runs in a season set by Joe DiMaggio. Judge leads the MLB in OPS as well and has blossomed with an average in the .330 range.

AL Manager of the Year- Paul Molitor
Sticking in the Midwest when it comes to the Manager of the Year, Molitor takes home the hardware for me. He's got the Twins 2 games over .500 and within one game of the second wildcard in the AL. For a team that doesn't seem to be loaded with talent, he is definitely getting the most out of his squad especially with the likes of Ervin Santana who ALREADY has 4 complete games this season. Molitor has been overachieving with his club and for that he should be taking home the manager of the year.
